We care about special needs families and have thoughtfully crafted solutions to help you plan for their future without compromising Federal or state funds that they may be receiving. Contact us today to see how we can use these tools to bring peace of mind to you and your family.
Service Options
Estate Planning
As a category, estate planning is on the top of our list. You have a lot of options available to you. Below is a list of items within estate planning that you may want to consider, including ways in which we might assist you for each item:
- Wills, power of attorney for finances, and power of attorney for healthcare, are important documents that can help to provide continuity of care to you and to your loved one if something were to happen to you. We can help you complete your documents in less than a day and at a fraction of the cost. Contact us for a free initial consultation.
- A Special Needs Trust (sometimes called a Supplemental Needs Trust) is an ongoing trust that can protect your loved one’s government benefits and supplements their needs with trust assets. A Special Needs Trust can take a little bit longer to complete and might be a little more expensive, but you have several options that we can explore together. We can help you create your own or we can recommend attorneys who can assist you.
- Also important is a Letter of Intent which is a handy compliment to the Special Needs Trust. This letter provides valuable details about your child so that a successor trustee can smoothly step in and make decisions that are specific and meaningful. This letter should be updated every few years. If you don’t have one already, we can guide you in the creation of one or write one for you.
Family Stewardship Organizer
A Family Stewardship Organizer is our solution to help families bring together records and key documents for future family use. Some of the topics included are loan and title documents, insurance policies, tax records, retirement accounts, and more. Find out how this organizer can greatly smooth family transitions by clicking Family Stewardship Organizer.
Estate Settlement
Estate Settlement will be discussed during estate planning, and it is important to note here. Many families delay estate planning because they don’t feel that they have good options for a caregiver or financial trustee of the person with special needs. Indecision can be paralyzing. When we don’t know what to do, we don’t do anything at all. We can provide options that you might not have considered. And if desired, we can serve as the trustee for the Special Needs Trust and as executor or personal representative for a will.
Money Management
Money Management is an important consideration to plan ahead for. If you became ill, how might you ensure that income is received and bills are paid for your loved one? We develop a plan together to make sure that your loved one will be cared for and that their needs will be met. See our Money Management Services page for more information on Basic Money Management, Representative Payee, and Conservator services.
